Immigration Vaccination Requirements

As part of the immigration process, applicants are required to complete a medical examination conducted by a USCIS-designated civil surgeon. This examination includes a review of vaccination history and confirmation that all immunizations required under U.S. immigration law are up to date, in accordance with current CDC guidelines. Specific vaccine requirements may vary depending on the applicant’s age, medical history, and other individual factors, and will be reviewed during the exam. Applicants should bring any available vaccination records to their appointment to help streamline the process. Please bring all available vaccination records to your appointment.

Required Immigration Medical Testing

The immigration medical examination includes screening based on current USCIS and CDC Technical Instructions.

  • Tuberculosis (TB) screening using the required method based on age and current guidelines
  • Chest X-ray evaluation when required after TB screening
  • Syphilis blood testing when required
  • Gonorrhea screening when required
  • Additional testing or evaluation when indicated by medical history or exam findings

As part of the immigration medical examination, applicants are required to undergo certain health screenings conducted by a USCIS-designated civil surgeon. These screenings are performed in accordance with current USCIS and CDC Technical Instructions and are designed to identify conditions of public health significance. The specific tests required will depend on factors such as the applicant’s age, medical history, and findings observed during the examination. In some cases, additional testing or follow-up evaluation may be necessary based on initial results. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their health history with their civil surgeon and to complete any testing requested as part of the overall examination process.
